Yesterday morning the girls and I were laying in bed, laughing and playing. I happened to catch a glimpse of my wedding ring and realized the diamond looked lower in the setting than normal. I touched it and POP out it came! Obviously, I was immediately in a panic but it hadn't gone far and I found it in the blanket with no trouble. Thank goodness we were still in bed and I wasn't out of the house or cleaning the toilets or something when it happened. After the shock of the diamond popping out eased, I realized I was faced with a new dilemma. I have not had that ring off since I was 35 or so weeks pregnant with Chloe. I put it on one day and it just never came off again. We ran my finger under water so cold I'm pretty sure I was risking losing my finger all together. We poured half a bottle of dishsoap on my hand. We sprayed some windex on it. Nothing worked. What we did succeed in doing was bruising my finger and making it swell so that not only would the ring not come off but it also was now cutting off my circulation.
We called the local Kay's Jewelers, thankful that Andy had purchased the lifetime warranty on our rings when he bought them nearly 8 years ago. Then we went in and had my ring cut off of my finger. It was so sad. :( Obviously with the swelling in my finger they couldn't measure it for resizing right then so I have to go back in in a week or so. I guess even my fingers are overweight.
So, even though I will probably be permanently traumatized over this ordeal we are very lucky to 1) have found the diamond, and 2) to have warranties that cover any crazy thing that may happen.
Still.......{{sniffle, sniffle}} my poor ring!

Oh, Amanda! I'm so sorry. I know even with warranties and all that it's still sad! I actually fear this happening to mine and will occasionally have a panic attack and look down to make sure it's okay. I think it's because my grandma once lost her diamond in a swimming pool, and they couldn't find it.
