Hurry and sign, Mr. President!

Some of you may remember a month or so ago I posted about the Military Spouses Residency Relief Act (MSRRA) and how it was waiting to be passed in the House after easily passing in the Senate. Honestly, I was starting to worry it was stalling out....the House seemed to be taking its sweet time with it.

Yesterday, however I heard some very exciting news! It had finally cleared the House and is on its way to President Obama's desk for approval. VIDEO As a military spouse, I can't even begin to express how much this really means to me. As I am sitting here, typing this out, I am thinking about how, finally, my home state of Kansas can legally and forever be my home state. HOME. In a lifestyle where there is no permanance, where you know you will never live in any one house for more than a few years, where you know all the friends you make and people you meet will soon be people whom you will never see again, where you miss out on major family events and float out in your own little world, there will be permanance. Kansas is my permanant residence. HOME.

On top of the emotional aspect, I am also glad for the benefits of the act as far as my cars, drivers licence, etc are concerned. I guess that means now it is safe to put my name on our vehicles and not worry about extra taxation or a police officer questioning our right to have it tagged in Kansas. I guess that means that I no longer have to debate with each move whether I should swith my DL over or just hope to fly under the radar and never get pulled over. I guess that means that when the kids are all in school and re-enter the work force I will not have to worry about how to file taxes with all of my taxes going to one state and Andy's to another. No more. We will be a solidified, united family....all with the same HOME.

Thank you so much, Congress, from the bottom of my heart for passing the MSRRA and making my life so much easier. And please, Mr. President, hurry up and sign it!
