Chloe seemed to have a great birthday. Thank you everyone who called (even though she wouldn't talk to most of you) and sent cards/gifts.
We started the day with a trip to Walmart and then the local bookstore. She was so sweet! Even as I was telling her she could pick a book out for herself she kept saying she wanted to get a book for Baby Fuzzy so she could read it to "her". awww! She's going to make a great big cousin.
After errands we came back home and Janette and I got busy working on her birthday cake. The interesting thing with this cake is Chloe could not make up her mind what sort of cake she wanted. She went back and forth for weeks. "I want a Mickey Mouse birthday cake." then "I want a ladybug birthday cake" then back to "I want a Mickey Mouse birthday cake". Finally, on the big day she seemed fairly settled on Mickey Mouse. So that is what we started. The only problem was that as we started piecing the cake together, it looked much less like a mouse and much more like a Panda. Good thing that was ok with Chloe. So Mickey Mouse morphed in to a panda bear.
When the cake was all made we loaded up and headed out to South Portland to eat at On the Border. Chloe had already said she wanted "Mexican tacos and bean burritos with cheese but no sauce and no chunks in it". It seemed like a good choice anyway since we recently discovered On the Border gives a 50% off military discount. The highlight of the night was all the waiters and waitresses singing her the On the Border birthday song when they brought out her ice cream sundae.
Stuffed to the gills from our wonderful (and cheap!) dinner, we drove home and did cake and presents. She was a wonderful gift opener, thinking every card and every present was the best thing she's ever seen in her life. She's going to be a fun 3 year old.
