I had to do it!

I tried not to. I begged myself not to. But finally today it had to be done. I turned on the heat. I woke up in the wee hours of the morning huddled under three blankets with Chloe curled up next to me on one side and Livy sprawled out on the other side of me. I am not really sure when they migrated from their room upstairs to mine downstairs but once I finally jumped out of bed, grabbed a sweatshirt and my slippers, and headed upstairs to get Olivia's school clothes, I realized why. It was freezing. A quick check of the thermostat told me it was about 57 in the house, which isn't awful, but isn't great either. So, I did it. A quick flip of the dial and it was done. 65. There.

Ok, so turning on the heat in itself isn't the worst thing in the world. It is the knowledge that the heat uses heating oil to work. And now I have to buy some. It makes me cringe to even think about it. I just called our oil delivery guy to find out that while I was procrastinating about buying oil prices jumped from 1.96 a gallon to 2.21. Bummer. Then I realized about this time last year I was paying over 3 dollars a gallon, so it doesn't seem so awful when you put it in to perspective.
