I can't believe I haven't even put Christmas pictures up on the blog yet. I will catch up this week sometime.
Since November some changes have taken place in the Havens household. After a quiet Christmas in NY, followed by a week or so of the Neeley's coming to visit, we started out 2012 with me going back to college at long last. I am taking 4 classes this semester for a total of 12 hours. Two of my classes are challenging but I am really enjoying them. The History of Imperial Russia and Readings on Colonial America suck up most of my week, to be honest, but I fill in the gaps with Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies (hate it) and Health 101 (hate it more). Luckily, though they are boring and stupid classes, they are also easy.
Also in January I was finally given my life back. I had to switch ENT's again and in early January went to see Dr. Vogan at Southtowns ENT. I'm so glad I did. He listened to my sad story of pain and woe, looked over the scans and tests that had already been preformed, and recommended sinus surgery. So, on January 31, 2012 I had a septoplasty to remove the bone spur and to correct my septum and to clean out the left ethmoid sinus cavity. I'm not going to lie, recovery was much worse than I had expected. But, after about a week and a half, I found myself still very tender in the nose, but feeling lightyears better than I had in over a year. Now, I'm about 6 weeks post op and feel fantastic. Other than some slight tenderness at the end of my nose, I am pain free. No pressure in my face. No migraines stemming from the bridge of my nose. I can work out again. I am not so worn out all the time. I am going back to the wife and mother I was before all of this started. So thank you, Dr. Vogan, for giving me myself back.
So, now it is the middle of March. Tory hurt her foot a week and a half ago. I believe she was doing cartwheels in the den, though she denies it. Long story short, they thought she may have broken it but it turned out to be a severe contusion that we should expect to take a few weeks to a month to fully heal. Ick. She has made some progress in the last few days however, and has given up the crutches in favor of the Frankenstein shoe she was given at the orthopedist.
Livy and Chloe are doing well. Healthy, happy, smart little girls just like their big sister. We're all settled in nicely to the Buffalo area and have enjoyed the marked lack of winter here. I believe {{knock on wood}} spring has officially sprung. Looking at the forecast for this week all the temps are predicted to be in the upper 50's to mid-60's. Time to bust out the sidewalk chalk and bubbles.
I wish I could sit here and say "Oh, I'll do a better job at keeping up with the blog!" but we all know that isn't true. I just don't have the time to dedicate to it that I used to. I can promise I'll put up pictures this week and that I will do my best to at least blog major holidays and events. Sorry, friends, that's the best I can do!
