Happy Coast Guard Day, Sector Buffalo!

Last Thursday, August 4, the Coast Guard celebrated its 221st birthday. Sector Buffalo celebrated this birthday the next day at a park I can't remember the name of here in Orchard Park. I think the kids and I were all a little nervous about going and meeting new people, but excited at the same time. Andy had only been at work at the sector for 4 days so there were actually a lot of people he didn't know yet either. I have to say, I wasn't sure what to expect from the people or the event (if nothing else, the Marcus Hanna's events taught me to expect absolutely nothing kid-friendly) but away we went. Right as we drove in, we saw this:

Yes, friends. That is a ginormous, inflatable water slide. Come a bit around the corner and what is there? A petting zoo. Pony rides. Ice cream. Outdoor games like cornhole (want to guess where Andy spent a good chunk of the day?), ladder golf, frisbee golf, bocci ball. Oh, and a dunk tank. We had such a great time! I met several other wives I feel I could be friendly with and met several of the people Andy works with. Everyone seems great so far!
